Helen Hartman

Helen Whisler Hartman, 77, of Normal, formerly of Mackinaw and Danvers, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Accolade Health Care of Peoria.

She was born December 3, 1946, in Germany to Henry and Hilda Schaefer Heren. She married Harold F. Whisler on May 28, 1965 in Lincoln and he passed away February 12, 1986. She later married Ted Hartman.

Surviving are her children, Carissa (Jim) Ahart of Normal and Craig (Jumi) Whisler of Dallas, TX; two stepchildren, Joann (Ron) Brubaker of Morton and Bill (Rita) Whisler of Mapleton; five grandchildren; her siblings, Dieter (Sandy) Heren, Charlie Heren, Elona (Mike) Rich, Henry Heren, Lucette (Bob) Lohnes; and one brother-in-law, Randy Fasse.

Preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Rosie Fasse.

Helen worked at State Farm as a total loss claims processor for over 30 years, retiring in 2008.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

A private funeral will be held at Hope Baptist Church in Mackinaw. Burial will be in Mackinaw Township Cemetery. Haensel-Oswald Funeral in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to a children’s charity of the donor’s choice.
