Helen Lewis Obituary

  Helen Allen Lewis, 92, of Delavan, passed away at 12:02 am Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center Emergency Room in Peoria. She was born October 12, 1927 in Peoria to Robert H. and Kathleen Thompson Allen. She married John B. Lewis on August 15, 1944 at the First Presbyterian Church in Delavan, and he passed away December 12, 2013. Surviving are three sons, John A. (Carol) Lewis and Paul E. (Mindy) Lewis, both of Delavan, and James M. (Lyndee) Lewis of Neenah, WI; two daughters, Katherine A. (Boyde) Nelson of Monroe City, IN and Patricia E. (Kenneth) Nelson of Altona, IL; 15 grandchildren, Tina Tate, Lisa White, Erin Diekoff, Grant Lewis, Courtney Wilkinson, Kimberly Neuendorf, Jenny Pierson, Mark Hendricks, Joy Watson, Kay Raffety, David Nelson, Brian Nelson, Nicole Nelson, Jimy Lewis, and Matt Lewis; and 39 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Helen was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church in Delavan, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Presbyterian Women's Association. She was a member of Home extension, Order of Eastern Star, Member of Tazewell County Porkettes, and Delavan Historical Society. Helen enjoyed traveling, gardening, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her funeral will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 20, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church in Delavan. Pastor Jean Sparks will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Saturday, and from 1:00 to 1:45 pm Sunday, both at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Delavan.
