Helen Lucille “Tootie” Stonestreet, 95, of Mackinaw, IL passed away Monday,
December 26, 2022 at Unity Point Methodist Hospital surrounded by family.
Tootie was born August 24, 1927 in Mackinaw to Willis and Rosa Allen. She married James B "Stoney" Stonestreet on December 12, 1945 in Louisville, KY. He died September 14, 1985.
Surviving Tootie is a daughter, Judy Stechman of Deer Creek; a son, Jim (Lorrie) Stonestreet; grandchildren, Mike (Holly) Stechman of Creve Coeur, Nita (Jim) Spratt of Leroy, Curt (Beth) Stechman of Mackinaw; eight great-granddaughters, Kaylie, Kiera, Karley, and Kendyl Spratt; Sierra, Anasea, and Nevaeh Lewis; and Allie Stechman; and one great- great granddaughter, Maevary Norton of Leroy. Tootie is also survived by four sisters, Louise Abbott, Rosemary Henry, Delores Weishaupt and Kathy Streit. Two brothers, Willis Jr and Robert, and one sister, Annabelle, and one great-grandson, Derek, preceded her in death.
Tootie worked most of her life, namely at local restaurants, Fowlers IGA, and retired from Caterpillar in 1991.
She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed singing in her church choir, loved singing with her "Allen Sisters", adored her grand and great- grandchildren, and the most recent joy of her life was great-great grandbaby Maevary.
Tootie was a member of Mackinaw United Methodist Church where her funeral will be at 10:00 am Saturday, December 31, 2022. Rev. Joy Schlesselman will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday, also at the church. Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.
