Rev. Henry A. Miller, 92, of Tremont, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria surrounded by his wife and family.
He was born November 29, 1932 in Boston, GA to Thomas and Pearl Roper Miller. He married Carolene Holly on January 31, 1958 in Osseo, MI, and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Brian (Sue) Miller of Sandwich and Shari (Lawrence) Scully of Tremont; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister; one son, James H. Miller; and one son-in-law, Jeff Muehlich.
Henry graduated from college with a BA from Hillsdale, MI and Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago with a Master’s in Divinity.
For 67 years Henry lovingly ministered to countless church parishioners and communities across the Midwest. He was a member of the American Baptist Association, preached for a Christian radio show, officiated many weddings, funerals, and finally retired from the ministry in 2013 at Deer Creek Baptist Church. Though his ministry to others never really stopped as he shared the love of God to everyone he met.
Henry enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, reading Louis Lamour, and camping trips in the RV.
A visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 am Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Deer Creek Baptist Church. His grandson Blake Muehlich will officiate. His funeral service will follow the visitation. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Deer Creek Baptist Church or the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
