James “Jack” A. Davis, 77, of Mackinaw, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023 at his home.
He was born August 12, 1946 in Tonica to Bruno and Evelyn Brandow Davis. He married Jane Taylor on November 25, 1967 in Esmond, and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Randy (Mindy Lanning) Davis of Peculiar, MO. Julie (Kirk) Hasty of Mackinaw, and Matt (Sandy) Davis of Bloomington, IN; four grandchildren, Reed (Alannis Bremer) Davis of Peculiar, MO, Zachary (Katie) Hild of Frankfort, Katie (Dakota Justus) Schmidgall of Homewood, and Gracie Davis of Bloomington, IN; one great-grandchild, Evelyn "Evie" Schmidgall; two sisters, Vicki Davis of Yorkville and Nancy (Ken) Ryburn of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Jack worked at CIT Trucks in Normal as a mechanic and then shop foreman for 25 years. He also was owner operator of Jack Davis Inc. as an over the road truck driver for 7 years.
He pitched softball with the Kenworth Team, loved to fish, ride motorcycles, ATV in the desert, drag racing, and was involved with his children’s and grandchildren’s extracurricular events.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be from 4 -7 pm Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Mackinaw Community Building. Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.
