Jim was born in Delavan on June 17, 1945, to James Leslie and Loma Brechbill Wilson, both preceding him in death.
Also preceding him in death are one sister, Gwen (Robert) Null of Forest City; one nephew, Thomas Canopy of Eureka; and one great nephew, Bretton Tooley of Pekin.
Surviving are his brother-in-law Robert Null of Tucson, AZ; his nieces Billie Jo (Dale) Swearingen of Mapleton, Susan (Scott) Bickly of Shell Knob, MO, Mary (Rick) Huse of South Pekin; great nephews Steven (Alison) Thompson of Wales, UK, Tim Canopy of Green Valley, Bradly Long of WS and Eric (Liz) Swearingen of East Peoria; great nieces, Andrea (Jim) Cantrall of Pekin and Heidi Phipps of Forest City; and many great-great nieces and nephews.
Jim’s family was well known and respected in the community, with his father being a police officer and mother a beloved homemaker.
Jim enjoyed riding his bicycle around town helping neighbors with small jobs and visiting. He loved all animals and birds, a notable mention being his horse, Scout. He also had many dogs over the years.
He enjoyed many activities such as basketball, jigsaw puzzles, scrapbooking, dancing, fishing, and going to wrestling meets. He was also a wonderful painter.
Jim collected many postcards and souvenirs from all of his travels throughout his life. He was happy to have visitors and go to lunch, his favorite meal being a cheeseburger with fries and a coke.
His funeral will be held January 17, 2024, at 11:00 am at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan, with a visitation being held one hour prior. Burial will be at Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan following the service. Jim’s brother-in-law, Rick Huse, will be officiating.
