James Hall

James Francis Hall, 91, of Creve Coeur, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023 at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL. 

He was born March 22, 1932 in El Paso, IL to Roscoe B. and Emily E. Haglund Hall.  He married Eileen H. Mabee on June 15, 1963 in Vernon, IL, and she passed away October 23, 2019. 

Surviving are one granddaughter, Hannah Elmore (and her father Jim (Cindy) Elmore); one sister, Ruth Dambowy; and one brother, Floyd (Nancy) Hall. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Delaine Elmore; two sisters, Velma Hills and Irene Maas; and six brothers, Walter, Eugene, Irvin, George, Alfred, and Daniel Hall. 

James proudly served in the United States Army. 

He was a school bus driver for Peoria School District 150 for 40 years and at the same time, he also worked full time at Peoria Plastic Company for nearly 20 of those years.  Jim was a committed worker, working two full jobs for many years. 

He was a member of REVIVE Church in East Peoria and looked so forward to closing each Sunday morning worship service with his prayer that he'd worked on all week long.  He collected miniature school buses, volunteered countless hours at multiple churches throughout the years, volunteered at Peoria Rescue Mission for 20 years, Mennonite Relief Sale for 10 years, and sharpened knives for 50 years. Jim loved sharing his stories with anyone who would lend him an ear.  He loved it when people would join him in a card game of SKIP-BO.  Jim loved going out with REVIVE Men for Bible Study, particularly when all would go out for fun and food.

Jim also enjoyed attending breakfast at War Room Ministries and always was eager to open in prayer to say the blessing before the meal.  Jim enjoyed his daily phone calls to his brother Floyd and his daily 5 am call to his friend, Pastor Duane Surels.  

More than anything, Jim wanted others to know the love of Jesus. Everywhere he went, he'd tell people "I love you but Jesus loves you 10,000 times more!".  

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Daniel Brune and his team, the wonderful staff at Senior World in Peoria, and the many friends who rallied around to help Jim over the last few years to help him have many happy memories full of fun, food, and much laughter. 

His funeral will be at 10:00 am Saturday, October 21, 2023 at REVIVE Church in East Peoria.  Pastor Robert Finley will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday, also at the church.  Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria with military honors accorded.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to REVIVE Church or War Room Ministries.
