Janis Lee

Janis L. LeSage Lee, 83, of Tremont, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Hopedale Nursing Home. 

She was born April 6, 1939 in Dixon to Dr. Robert and Vernie Lucille Hendress LeSage.  She married David V. Lee on September 4, 1965 in Dixon, and he survives. 

Also surviving are one son, David V. (Stephanie) Lee Jr. of Tampa, FL, Joan Lee Hatler of Pekin, Kristie (Mike) Lee Sanders of McKinney, TX, and Heidi (Derek) Lee George of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren, Wade, Josh, Riley, Audrey, Konnor, Sophie, Maia, Grace, and Ash; one brother, Dr. Robert (Shelley) LeSage of Naples, FL; and two sisters, Joan LeSage of Dixon and Jane (Gary) Legwold of Minneapolis, MN. 

See was preceded in death by her parents. 

Janis graduated from University of Colorado in Boulder as a Med Tech. 

She owned and operated Lee Gardens, Hosta and Daylily Perennial Nursery for 20 years. 

She was cofounder of Tremont Historical Society, where she served as president for 30 years, cofounder of Midwest Hosta Society, cofounder of Designer in Depth, cofounder of Tremont Swim Torpedoes Swim Team, cofounder of District 3 Judges Council, a member of Peoria Garden Club where she served as past president, member of Ikebana International , and Tazewell County Republican Committee Women. 

Janis was a worldwide traveler, enjoyed genealogy, was an avid book lover, and enjoyed being with family in Colorado jeeping and skiing. 

A memorial mass will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hopedale. Msgr. Timothy Nolan will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Monday, at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont.  

Memorials may be made to Tremont Museum Historical Society.
