Jay Hoffman

Jay T. Hoffman, 83 of Tremont, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026.

He was born August 8, 1942 to Benjamin F. and Lulu “Billie” I.(Oelker) Hoffman. He married Carolyn K. Garlish on August 11, 1961 and she passed away July 31, 2020.

Surviving are his daughter, Julie D. Hoffman of Peoria; two sisters, Anita, (Frank) Burger of Placida, FL and Jeanie, (Bill) Royer of Washington, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Todd T. Hoffman in January 2021.  

He worked many years for CILCO as a lineman and later as an estimator retiring in 2000.

Never one to be still, he stayed active as our “Mr. Fixit”. Jay was a volunteer fireman for Tremont Fire Protection District, was an active member of Peoria Elks Club, and a former member of the Peoria Ski Kats.   He enjoyed golf, but his passion was waterskiing.   His favorite place was at Norfork Lake, Arkansas waterskiing with family and friends. Jay had a fun sense of humor and often had a smirky grin on his face.

Cremation has been accorded. A private burial will be at a later date.
