Joe Farris

Joe Darrell Farris, 80, of Tremont, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023 at his home.

He was born May 26, 1943 in Marshall, AR to William Columbus and Edna Esther Long Farris.  He married Jeanie Robbins on April 4, 1971 at the Delavan United Methodist Church, and she survives.

Also surviving are one grandson, Patrick (Whitney) Harman and one great grandson, Camden, both of Broken Arrow, OK; one sister, Patsy Sue Farris of Mountain Home, AR; and many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Tammy Harman; four brothers, JC, Brooks, Max, and Rayburn “Curley”;  one infant brother, Charles; and one sister, Modene.

Joe served in the United States Marine Corp.

He worked at Caterpillar Inc. in skilled trades and was a Dillon Township Trustee for two terms.

He was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.  He enjoyed Golfing with the Tremont Group and” building” projects.

He enjoyed baking angel food cakes, making peanut brittle, and divinity at Christmas time.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Monday, October, 30, 2023 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont.  Pastor Krista Price will officiate.  There will be no visitation. Military honors will be accorded by Tazewell Military Rites Team and the United States Marines.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Delavan High School Golf Program.
