John A. Perry, 86, of Delavan, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025 at Carle Health Pekin Hospital.
He was born January 7, 1939 to Maurice and E. Eileen Livengood Perry. He married Dana Devore on September 17, 1961 in Delavan, and she survives.
Also surviving are his two sons, Trent (Pam) Perry of Pekin and Toby (Colleen) Perry of Spring Hill, TN; four grandchildren, Bryce (Sam) Perry of Pekin, Samuel Perry of Lexington, KY, Brock Perry of Decatur, and Zachary Perry of Knoxville, TN; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Suzanne Goeken; one brother, Keith Perry; and twin granddaughters.
John served in the United States Army National Guard from 1961 to 1967 attaining the rank of Sergeant E-5.
He worked at Hiram Walker Distillery in Peoria for 18 years, Taloma Grain for seven years, Pioneer Hybrid Seed Company for three years, Watsons International for five years, and Moore’s Maytag for two years.
John was a member of the Delavan United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent and various other church committees. He was a member of the Delavan Ambulance Board for many years.
John was an avid fisherman.
His funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Delavan United Methodist Church. Pastor Charles Graul will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday, also at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
