John S. Webb, 76, of Tremont, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on July 10, 1948 in Milwaukee, WI to Willard Warren and Ruby Beatrice Bacon Webb. He married Carol Crandall on October 3, 1986, in Pekin, and she passed away May 2022.
Surviving are his children, Kevin (Rhonda) Crandall of Rochelle, Arin (Deanna) Crandall of Canton, Georgia, Kip (Nancy) Crandall of Oregon, IL, Shane Crandall of Pekin, and Kyle (Krysta) Crandall of Cle Elum, WA; 13 grandchildren, Mitchell (Stephanie) Crandall, Mackenzie (Brent) Boardman, Mallory Mershon, Noah Mershon, Catie (Jeremy) Kinard, Angela Crandall, Emma Crandall, Matthew Crandall, Zachary Crandall, Joshua Crandall, Luke Eisele, Pierce Crandall, and Grant Crandall; four step grandchildren Dallas, Dalton, Heavenly, and Devin Thompson; and three great grandchildren, Justice Kinard, Courage Kinard, and Blake Boardman; and one sister, Judy McMillan of Victor, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew.
John served in the United States Army from 1968-1971, where he was stationed in Germany.
He worked as the chief of police in Tremont for 28 years.
He was a member of Retired Police Chief Association, NRA, IRA, Pheasants Forever, chaired the Tazewell County Republicans, and a member of the Tremont Masonic Lodge.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, outdoors, and coin collecting.
His memorial service will be at 12 noon Saturday February 8, 2025 at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. Dave Uhlman will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:45 am Saturday, February 8 at the funeral home.
