John Stone

It is with great sadness we share John L. Stone, Mackinaw, IL was in a tragic accident and passed away on December 24, 2025 at the age of 62. He was born on June 8, 1963, to Harold and Darlene (Smith) Stone.  He married Amy Parmele on December 30, 2017, she survives. John lived a life marked by service and care to many neighbors, friends & family.

Also surviving are his daughter, Raven Stone; stepson Mason Rinkenberger; stepdaughter McKenzie (Rinkenberger) Eschbach, two brothers; Kenneth Sanders & Tony Stone; three grandchildren; Anthony, Braeleigh & Emersyn. Other family members left to honor him are father & mother-in-law; Jerry & Karan Parmele, one sister-in-law, Angie Scott & many nieces and nephews.

John was known for his commitment to his previous employers; ICCI; Tremont, IL & Luckey Trucking; Streator, IL and his current employer; Dealer’s Choice, Bloomington, IL

Beyond his professional life, he found great joy in building slot cars, rock engravings and woodworking. He had a special connection with their dogs Zeke, Arty & Bubba.  He especially found fishing a wonderful time to spend with his wife and family. He was very proud of his grandchildren.

John will be remembered for his generosity & humor and the many lives he touched.  His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 10, 2026 at the Mackinaw Christian Church.  A Meet and Greet will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with service immediately following. Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.
