Jon Marvin Scott, 61, of Mackinaw, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at his home.
He was born June 19, 1961 in Galesburg to R. Marvin and Beverly Kreps Scott. He married Angie Parmele on November 25, 1988 in Mackinaw, and she survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Beverly Scott of Tremont; one son, Austin Scott of Mackinaw; one daughter, Maddie Scott of Indianapolis; two brothers, Mark (Barb) Scott and Kevin (Deanna) Scott; four nieces; three nephews; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Scott; grandparents; and one nephew, Jason.
Jon was a 1979 graduate of Tremont High School. He was a longtime boiler service technician who owned and operated his own business, Scott’s Boiler Services.
He was a volunteer JFL coach and director for several years and helped with getting the JFL field built. He was a beloved role model to many kids in the program. He was also a deacon at the Mackinaw Christian Church.
Jon was an avid golfer and sports fan. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and the Fighting Illini. He had a kind and gentle spirit who never met a stranger. He loved and adored his two children and spending vacations with his family.
A memorial service will be at 5:00 pm Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Mackinaw Christian Church. Pastor Judith Thomas will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 pm Sunday at the church. Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.
