She was born January 29, 1927 in Tremont to George and Leah Suchert Hoffman. She married her high school sweetheart William Edward Naffziger on December 1, 1946. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before Ed’s passing in 2007.
Joyce is survived by one daughter Pamela (John) DeBruyn of Peoria, IL, 2 grandchildren, Jason (Melanie) Covington of Birmingham, AL, and Amber (Keith) Billerbeck of Germantown Hills, IL, 3 great grandchildren, Sydney (Cord) Shepherd, Audrey Welch & Blake Covington, 4 great-great grandchildren, Leo, Lincoln, Lennon and Luxton, 1 step great-great grandchild Ella.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister.
Joyce worked at Caterpillar in the treasury department during WW II. For years Ed & Joyce owned and operated Naffziger’s Clothing Store in Tremont, IL. She was devoted to her family. Over the years she was a caregiver to her mother, aunts and husband.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved to cook, her specialty & family favorites being her desserts. Anyone who knew Joyce, knew her love for the color pink. She and Ed built a pink brick house, enjoyed a pink Christmas tree, and her favorite flower was a pink rose. She had a generous heart, always making sure she had enough food or candy for anyone who stopped to see her.
She was a member of the Tremont Baptist church. In later years she enjoyed the services at Lutheran Hillside Village where she was a resident for 20+ years. We thank the many wonderful caring staff that took care of Joyce over the years along with the staff from Transitions Care group.
Her funeral will be at 12:00 noon Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Davis Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. Pastor Pat Monroe will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30am to 11:45am before the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.
