Julia Travis

 Julia “Julie” A. Travis, 90, of Hopedale, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024 at her home.

She was born February 21, 1934 in Peoria to John and Pearl Kimsey Sr.  She married Lorenz E. Travis Sr. on October 28, 1950.

Surviving are her son, Lorenz E. Travis Jr. of Hopedale; two grandchildren, Wendy (Jeffrey) Bowers of Hopedale and Dexter (Jennifer) Travis of Tremont; seven great grandchildren, Elizabeth Stribling, Jacob Bowers, Travis Rush, Emily Bowers, Sarah Rush, Elijah Travis, and Caleb Travis; and two great great grandchildren, Melody and Bailey Stribling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Jill Rush; one sister, Ruby Grauer; and two brothers, John Kimsey Jr. and Woodrow Kimsey.

Julie retired from AT&T after 40 years of service.

She spent her retirement helping to care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is noted for giving anything she had if needed by her family.

She loved spending time with family and was known for being a gracious host.

Cremation has been accorded and there will be a celebration of life at her son’s home Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 2 to 6 pm.  All family and friends are invited to attend and share memories and fellowship.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a breast cancer charity of the donor’s choice.
