Kenneth L. VanDyke, 88, of Hopedale, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025 at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
He was born November 10, 1936 in Dillon Township to Charles and Lesta Deweese VanDyke. He married Dorothy I. Shirley on February 1, 1958 in Marian and she passed away August 14, 2021.
Surviving are his children, Debra Surratt of Canton, GA, Terry (Stacy) VanDyke of Hopedale, Roger VanDyke of Hopedale, and Jeff (Lisa) VanDyke of Mclean; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one brother, Larry D. VanDyke of Delavan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jason Surratt; one great grandson, Baylor Payton; one daughter-in-law, Laurie VanDyke; and five brothers.
Ken worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria and Morton for 34 years.
He played the guitar and sang in the “Rhythm Boys Band” for many years.
Ken was a sports enthusiast, especially the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He always enjoyed going to Ft. Myers, FL each year.
A private funeral will be held at Davis-Oswald Funeral home in Tremont. Pastor Roger Springer will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Orendorff Cemetery in Hopedale.
