Kevin Michael Haas, 55, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Memorial Hospital.
Kevin was born on April 27, 1970, in Normal, Illinois, to Joseph and Doris (Henderson) Haas. He grew up in El Paso, Illinois, where he was active in 4-H and FFA and enjoyed public speaking. Kevin later attended the University of Illinois in Champaign and also received his MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management.
On July 19, 1997, Kevin married Shelley (Doogan) Haas in El Paso, Illinois. The two first met while working at Top Soil in Frankfort, Illinois. Kevin and Shelley were married for 28 years and have 2 sons together.
He is survived by his wife, Shelley (Doogan) Haas; his sons, Tanner Joseph Haas and Gavin William Haas; his father, Joseph Haas of Tremont, Illinois; and his siblings, Kathleen Messmann of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Thomas Haas (Lisa) of Tremont, Illinois; Ryan Haas (Sarah) of Bloomington, Illinois; and Colleen McDonald (Kipp) of Greencastle, Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as aunts and uncles, and his beloved Beagle, Buddy.
Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Doris (Henderson) Haas; brother-in-law, Kevin Messmann; and brother-in-law, Heath W. Doogan.
Kevin worked in agricultural sales throughout his career and was deeply committed to the growers and dealers he served. In 2025, he received the President’s Club Award from Sound Agriculture. In recent messages to his family, coworkers shared how Kevin taught them to be respectfully persistent, described him as a good man they were grateful to know, and noted how deeply he cared about the growers and dealers he worked with. Many shared that Kevin always did everything in his power to help anyone in need.
Kevin enjoyed golfing with his sons and watching sports, especially the Chicago Bears. In his younger years, he also enjoyed playing sports with his sons.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton. Visitation will be one hour prior also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Though he was taken from us too soon, his family will always treasure the wonderful memories they shared with him.
