L. Glenn Holmes, Jr, 90, of Delavan, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025 at Arcadia Care in Havana.
He was born February 17, 1935 in New Orleans, LA to Glenn Sr. and Marie Curtis Holmes. He married Loretta Clifford on August 23, 1958 in Hurst, IL, and she passed away June 18, 2021.
Surviving are his sister, Helen Hopkins of Delavan and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronnie Holmes; two sisters, Dona Culbertson and Marge Fuhrman; and one brother, Jim Holmes.
Glenn served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Delavan American Legion.
He graduated from Delavan High School in 1953. He farmed the family farm for many years and worked at Caterpillar until his retirement in 1998 after 41 years of service. Glenn worked most of his life working second shift in management at the East Peoria Plant in the heat treat department.
He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Delavan. He loved working with the Delavan Historical Society and helped with many community projects.
Glenn loved his gardens and truly loved the family get togethers.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be at 10:30 am Saturday, January 24, 2026 at First United Presbyterian Church in Delavan. Pastor Stephanie McCullough will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
