Larry D. VanDyke, 82, of Delavan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Divine Mercy Hospital in Peoria.
He was born March 4, 1943 to Charles and Lesta Deweese VanDyke in Hopedale. He married Sandra Wethington June 1, 1962 and she passed away April 4, 2022.
Surviving are one son, James (Rose) VanDyke of Delavan; four grandchildren, Tabitha (Jessie) Keayes of Delavan, James R. (Nishirya) VanDyke of Houston, TX, Lance Connett of Delavan, and Dean VanDyke of South Pekin; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Charles, Marvin, Jesse, Jack, Kenny and Troy; one son, Larry Lee VanDyke and one daughter, Julie C. Connett.
Larry attended Hopedale School, graduating with the class of 1961 with a GED.
He worked at Caterpillar Inc for 30 years, retiring in 1995.
He enjoyed refinishing furniture, gardening, music, spending winters in Florida, and spending time with family and friends.
For many years, Larry was lead singer in a Gospel band that entertained at churches, nursing homes in the area and special functions. He never missed an opportunity to tell others of his precious Lord and Savior.
He was a member of Prairie Bible Church, where he was an example to others and a dedicated witness.
His funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Prairie Bible Church in Delavan. Pastor Dan Larimore will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 -10:45 am also at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
