Lawrence E. Farlin Jr.

Lawrence E. Farlin Jr, 90, of Pekin passed away Friday, August 28, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his family.  His trials are over. His journey is complete and he is resting with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lawrence, better known as Jr. to the family, was born on July 12, 1936 in Pekin, to Lawrence and Amelia Schmidt Farlin Sr.

He grew up on the farm on 5th Street, working the fields with his dad and two brothers, Bob and Gary Farlin.

After graduating from Pekin High School, he married the love of his life, Margaret Drake of Green Valley.  They were married on October 16, 1955.

Jr. retired from Caterpillar after 30 years of service.

He was an avid Cardinal baseball fan.  He was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church in Pekin, where he served as an usher and greeter for many years.

Jr. loved family occasions where he would relive the old days, the hard work on the farm, which were difficult times. Today, those days are precious memories.

Surviving are his loving wife, Margaret; three children, Dennis (Debbie) Farlin of Bee Branch, AR, Paula (Rod Studyvin) Farlin of rural Tremont, and Douglas (Tracie Fisher) Farlin of Easton; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Clements, Tiffany Watkins, Jared (Bethany) Eitenmiller, Douglas Farlin, and Dallas (Desiree) Farlin; nine great grandchildren, Caitlyn and Lacey Clements, Kayson and Royce Watkins, Beck and  and Emily Farlin, and Libby, Kellyn, and Sawyer Eitenmiller; one brother, Gary (Peggy) Farlin of rural Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jean Jackson of rural Pekin and Lois Kelley of Muscatine, IA; and one brother, Bob Farlin of South Pekin.

His funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Bethel Baptist Church in Pekin.  Pastor Steve Rowell will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 am Saturday at the church.  Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
