Linda L Sweckard

Linda L. Sweckard, 84, of Mackinaw, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL.

She was born on December 13, 1941, in Bloomington, IL. to James R. Shonk and Joanna P. Moore. She married Gerald Sweckard in Mackinaw on September 24, 1960. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2012.

She was also preceded in death by three sons: Alan, Michael, and Thomas

Linda is survived by one son; Joseph, and three grandchildren; Lindsay, Gage, and Jacob Sweckard.

She was a member of the Pekin Boat Club.

Linda was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, bowling, dancing, boating, playing cards and bingo with friends, and sitting on her porch enjoying warm weather. She loved animals dearly, from the deer roaming her yard to her dog Louie and cat Callie who were always by her side.

A loving mother and an outstanding grandmother, Linda's kindness touched many and she will be greatly missed.

Cremation rites have been accorded and services for Linda will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mackinaw Rescue Squad or the Mackinaw District Library. Burial of Linda’s ashes will be at Mackinaw Township Cemetery at a later date as well.
