Lois Brennemann Obituary

Lois Grace Brennemann, of Pekin, formerly of Delavan and Hopedale, our beloved mom,

grandma, and great-grandma, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024. Lois was born April 27, 1933 in rural Green Valley, Illinois to Fred J. & Grace E. (Hilst) Meeker. Lois married Robert Berne Brennemann on January 3, 1953 at Green Valley Methodist Church. Lois and Robert shared 42 years together before he passed away on August 5, 1995.

Lois is survived by her son, Michael (Nancy) Brennemann of Pekin, Illinois and her daughter, Debbie (Rod) Mintle of Bettendorf, Iowa; four grandchildren, Megan (Brock) Halverson of Bettendorf, Iowa, Brody (Kayla) Utley of Pekin, Illinois, Mallory (Alex) Gibbs of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Abby (Michael) Lord of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; three great-grandchildren, Graham and Emme Halverson and Anna Gianessi. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, and one sister.

Lois's love shone brightly in her roles as a mom, grandma, and great-grandma and brought her immeasurable joy. From cheering at ball games and dance recitals to traveling together, celebrating milestones, and sharing birthdays and holidays, these moments brought her boundless happiness. One of Lois’s most treasured memories was a surprise trip to Disney World to mark her 80th birthday with all of her family. This past summer, Lois was delighted to celebrate her 90th birthday surrounded by her friends and family sharing stories and special memories.

Lois cherished time spent with friends and family, including the friends she made during her employment at the Community Bank of Hopedale and Cross Implement of Minier before her retirement. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, loved puzzles, and relished playing cards and games. She was loyal and true and dearly valued luncheons with her friends. Lois also baked a delicious apple pie that was always made with love. Lois had a great appreciation and pride for rural country life and her farm heritage was reflected in her daily living.
