Lois Hoerbert Obituary

Lois J. Hoerbert, 91, of Delavan, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024 at the home of her daughter in Emden.

She was born June 19, 1932 in rural Emden to Andrew T. and Rosella Tina Rademaker Klokkenga.  She married John D. Hoerbert on April 5, 1952 in Emden, and he passed away June 16, 2016.

Surviving are her children,  Pamela Orefice of Davenport, Cynthia (Leland Neil) Klokkenga of Emden, Karen (Burke) Latch of Wildwood, MO, and Robert (Teresa) Hoerbert of Emden; 9 grandchildren, Nicole (Greg) Willard, Angela (Jonathan) Lehtola, Zachary Klokkenga, Jacob Klokkenga, Elizabeth (Michael) Roush, Kyle (Britney) Hoerbert, Kasey (Lindsey) Hoerbert, Kane (Allison) Hoerbert, and Kortney (Andrew) Dahlman;  19 great grandchildren; and one sister, Geneva Behrends of Emden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Kaleb Hoerbert; and one son-in-law, Jeffrey Orefice.

Lois helped her husband farm for several years and worked as a cook at Emden Grade School and later at the high school.

She was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden helping with the women’s activities and served as a 4-H leader for many years.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, was an excellent seamstress, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 am Monday, March 11, 2024 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden.  Pastor Keith Ray will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:45 am Monday at the church.  Burial will be in Hartsburg Cemetery.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden.
