Loretta Holmes Obituary

 

Loretta J. Holmes, 81, of Delavan, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021 at Hopedale Nursing Home. 

She was born March 24, 1940 in Herrin, IL to Ed L. and Susie Bailey Clifford.  She married Glenn Holmes on August 23, 1958 in Hurst, IL and he survives. 

Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronnie Holmes; six siblings, Irell "Bud", Barbara, Harry, Jim, Paul, and Mary Sue. 

Loretta, worked as an aide at Hopedale Hospital for several years and worked at Delavan High School cafeteria.  In 1991, she opened a tearoom in the old Church of God for three years and owned and operated the Colonial Drive Inn in Delavan for three years. 

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Delavan, Women’s Association of America, Dillon Home Extension, Delavan Women’s Club, and a member of two Bunco Clubs in Delavan. 

She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and crafts. 

Her funeral will be at 10:30 am Thursday, June 24, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church in Delavan.  Pastor Jean Sparks will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday and from 9:30 to 10:15 am Thursday, both at the church.  Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements. 

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Delavan.
