Louise Hasty Abbott, 98, of Mackinaw, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Washington Senior Living in Washington.
She was born May 11, 1924 in Springfield to Willis and Rosa Bright Allen. She married Lyle Hasty on September 22, 1945 in Tremont, and he passed away April 12, 1992. She later married Dale Abbott on August 20, 1994 and he passed away October 9, 2007.
Surviving are one son, Robert (Rita Pulling) Hasty of Lacon; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; three sisters, Rosie Henry and Delores Weishaupt, both of Arizona and Kathy Streit of Eureka; one daughter-in-law, Laurie Hasty of Morton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Patsy VanDyke; one son, Alan Hasty; one granddaughter, Dawn Holloway; two sisters, Annabelle Schmidgall and Tootie Stonestreet; and two brothers, Robert Allen and Willis “Ki” Allen Jr.
Louise worked at the Mackinaw IGA for over 30 years.
She was a member of the Mackinaw United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of Young at Heart Club in Mackinaw for many years.
She loved to sing and sang with her five sisters in the group, the Allen Sisters. She was known for baking many tea rings.
Cremation has been accorded. A graveside service will be at 10 am Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Mackinaw Township Cemetery. Pastor Phil Somers will officiate. Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mackinaw Rescue or Peoria Rescue Ministries.
