Louise M. Steffen

Louise M. Steffen, 98, of Elgin, passed away at 8:09 pm Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Apostolic Christian Highland Oaks in Elgin, IL.

She was born April 30, 1922 in Elgin, IL. She was one of eleven children born to Theophile and Mabel Wewetzer Steffen.

Surviving are three sisters, Lenora Steffen of Elgin, Glady (Don) Kaufman of Bloomington, IL and Jeanne (Richard) Stoller of La Jolla, CA; one brother, Dale (Sharon) Steffen of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; one sister in law, Kathryn Steffen of Morton; many nieces and nephews; and their children plus many friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Albert, Walter and Earl Steffen and two sisters, Helen Steffen and Rosemary “Dode” Reckhemmer

Louise was a student at Franklin School along with her siblings and cousins. She worked at Elgin Watch Factory for 25 years and then at Diamond Tool until her retirement.

She sought the Lord in faith and repentance in her youth and served Him her whole life. She was always thinking of others and volunteered at three nursing homes and wrote numerous cards and letters. Louise and her dear sister, Lenora, spent their entire lives together.

She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin, where her funeral will be at 10:30 am on Monday, August 17, 2020. Ministers of the church will officiate. A visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Elgin.

Memorials may be made to Apostolic Christian Highland Oaks.
