Madison Steen

Madison Nicole Steen, 28, of Peoria, passed away peacefully at 9:55 pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born on May 27, 1996, in Springfield, Missouri to Traci (Rose) Steiger and Gary Steen.

Maddie is survived by her father, Gary Steen of Peoria; mother, Traci (Gary) Steiger of Delavan, IL; siblings, Bird Steen of Peoria and Cassi (Jon) Anderson of Austin, TX. She also leaves behind her best friend and soul mate, Dylan Daymude of Peoria.

Maddie attended Northern Illinois University where she was heavily involved in the school newspaper, The Northern Star. She was a perspective columnist for two years and then managing editor her senior year. She graduated with a double major in Journalism and Geography with a minor in Communications.

Maddie was very much a free spirit and loved all things nature. She loved to camp, hike, and attend as many music festivals as she could. She loved hanging out with her friends and chilling by fires. Her cats, Tippie and Hup, were also a huge part of her life.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 12-4 pm at the Wildlife Prairie Park in the Log Room, in Hanna City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to TAPS No-Kill animal shelter in Pekin or honor Maddie by going on a walk, watch a sunset, cuddle with a cat, or listen to your favorite playlist.
