Malcolm graduated from Delavan High School and farmed with his father, Dewey for forty years and continued with his son, Tim for another 25 years.

He worked with Constitution Convention for the State of Illinois in the 1960’s, was a member of Mackinaw Valley Improvement Association for 20 years, served on the ABSCO Board, member of Tazewell County Service Board for 33 years and served as president for 18 years, Tazewell County Farm Bureau member for nine years, and served on the Delavan School Board for nine years, where he was president for five years.
