Margaret Maurer

Margaret P. Maurer, 96, of Hopedale, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at Hopedale Nursing Home.

She was born May 21, 1927 in Royal, WY to Daniel and Pearl Parmenter.  She married Carl W. Maurer in Alaska, and he passed away 1982.

Surviving are her children, Mariann (John) Thomas of Wasilla, AK, Donald C. Maurer of Hopedale, and Debbie (Ed) Phillips of Perry, IL; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one brother, Danny (Loita) Parmenter of Renton, WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David C. Maurer; two brothers, Les and Chuck.

Margaret thoroughly enjoyed working at the Hopedale Elementary School in the cafeteria and was known as the “lunch lady”.  She also cleaned the village offices and was a talented baker.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 am Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Living Hope Community Church in Hopedale.  Dan Brown will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday, June 23,  also at the church.  Burial will be in Mennonite Cemetery in Hopedale.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopedale Nursing Home or Hopedale Commons.
