Margaruite Ruth Brandt

Margaruite “Ruth” Brandt, 85, formerly of Tremont, went home into the arms of Jesus on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Hopedale Nursing Home, surrounded by her family. 

She was born April 11, 1937 in Bloomington to Ernest Carl and Lilas Mae Sanders Hilton.  She married her true love, Kenneth Brandt, on May 24, 1959 at the East Peoria Methodist Church, and he passed away March 21, 1987.

Surviving are three daughters, Lori Hemmer of Normal, Kelli Brandt of Bloomington, and Peggy (Craig) Smock of Morton; seven grandchildren, Amber and Savannah Hemmer, Rachel and Mariah McCasky, and Cassie, Ryan, and Kayla Smock; one brother, Terry (Susan Kemper) Hilton of McLean; one sister, Jane Fitch of Indianapolis, IN; and two sisters-in-law, Delores Hilton of Bloomington and Harriett Hilton of Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Jack Hilton and Richard “Dick” Hilton.

Ruth was a happy homemaker and enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking family dinners, entertaining family and friends, and spending time with her grandchildren.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be at 11:00 am Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Groveland.  Frank Brozenec will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:45 am Thursday at the church.  Arrangement are being handled by Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont.  Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont at a later date.
