Marilyn A. Burns, 92, of Tremont, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
She was born September 6, 1929 in Tremont to Walter and Louise Perdelwitz Getz. She married Jack D. Burns on June 17, 1950 in Tremont; he passed away June 24, 2018.
Surviving are her children, Steven Burns and Connie (Jim) Boyle, both of Tremont; four grandchildren, Chad (Julie) Loughrey of Edwardsville, Jack (Courtney) Loughrey of Edwards, Daniel Loughrey of Dunlap, and John Boyle of Tremont; three great-grandchildren, Gavin Schroeder, Jack and Lucy Loughrey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Edith Pflederer, Norma Roberts, and Velma Wessels.
Marilyn graduated from the University of Illinois in 1951. She worked at Caterpillar for ten years. She and her husband were Grand Marshals of the Tremont Turkey Festival in 2003.
She was a member of the Tremont United Methodist Church, where private services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Rev. Cathy Clark will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
