Marilyn Litwiller Obituary

Marilyn J. Litwiller, 89, of Hopedale, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at Hopedale Hospital. 

She was born November 18, 1931 in Eureka to Orrie D. and Alma Roth Zehr.  She married B. Willis Litwiller on June 2, 1949 in Morton, and he passed away May 20, 2015. 

Surviving are three daughters, Myra (Glenn) Raab of Kokomo, IN, Marge (Larry) Weaver and KaEllen (Jim) Schrag, both of Hopedale; five sons, Wes (Susan) Litwiller of Armington, Delmar (Cindy) Litwiller, Darwin (Patty) Litwiller, Kevin (Lisa) Litwiller, and Doyle (Sharon) Litwiller, all of Hopedale; 21 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Mary) Zehr of Morton; sister-in-law, Janice K. Litwiller of Hopedale and brother-in-law and sister in-law, Delton and Bernadine Litwiller. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lyle and his wife, Sherry Zehr. 

Marilyn was a homemaker. She worked at the Hopedale Grade School  cafeteria and at Schertz Hardware Store in Minier. She was a nursing assistant at St. Joseph Hospital in Bloomington, a nurse’s aide at Hopedale Nursing Home and Hopedale Hospital, and Hopedale Medical Complex Commons Floor Assistant. 

She was a Member of the Hopedale Mennonite Church and volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop in Eureka. 

A Celebration of Marilyn’s life will be at 10:30 am Monday, May 17, 2021 at Hopedale Mennonite Church.  Pastor Kurt Walker will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Sunday, also at the church. Private family burial will be in Mennonite Cemetery in Hopedale.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements. 

Memorials may be made to Hopedale Mennonite Church, Mennonite Central Committee, or Easter Seals.
