Marilyn Owen, 93, of Tremont, formerly of Peoria was ushered into the presence of the Lord with her family by her side singing and praying on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at her home.
She was born June 8, 1927 in Tremont to William S. and Esther E. Brenkman Koch. She married William H. Owen on April 24, 1948 in Tremont and he passed away on October 5, 2000.
Surviving are two daughters, Becky (Bill) Porritt of Tremont and Sally (Dave) Maloof of Edwards; six grandchildren, Luke (Debbi) Porritt, Nathan (Bethany) Porritt, Alissa (Dan) Hawkinson, Kara (Matt) Loomis, Joel (Lance Wahl) Maloof, Zachary (Alexis) Maloof; 19 great grandchildren, Anna, Aleia, Isaiah, Elijah Porritt, Bella, Liam, Zander and Ayla Porritt, Josiah, Noah, Abigail and Karis Hawkinson, Eden, Stone, Deacon Loomis, Penelope and Owen Maloof Wahl, Louis and Felix Maloof; one sister, Carol Stuber of Tremont.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Eloise Pflederer.
Marilyn was a secretary to the Vice President at Caterpillar, where she met her husband Bill and also worked at Bob Hinman Outfitters in Peoria.
She was a former member of the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria, where she was very active. When she moved to Tremont she became a member of Northfield Christian Fellowship in Tremont where she was baptized at the age of 91 on October 14, 2018.
Marilyn was a homemaker and a great cook. Family was very important to her. She found great joy being with her family, hosting family Sunday meals and family trips. She was known for being joyful, generous and thankful for everything. She felt so blessed to be able to spend her last three years living in an apartment with her sister down the hall and much of her family close by.
Her funeral will be at 11:00 am Monday, February 22, 2021 at Northfield Christian Fellowship in Tremont. CDC guidelines will be followed, and masks are required. Don Stuber will officiate. A visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 am before the service at the church. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.
