Marion I. Harding, 93, of Morton passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Apostolic Christian Restmor.
She was born near Taylor, North Dakota, on January 24, 1929, to Irvin and Hilda (Weappa) Brademeyer. She married Edward L. Harding on December 26, 1952, in Taylor.
She is survived by her children, Susan Harding of Falcon Heights, MN; Diann Krieg of Morton; Linda (Ken) Sauder of Tremont; Bradley (Susan) Harding of Mishawaka, IN; and Kenneth (Lori) Harding of Tremont; eleven grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Carol Moore, her parents, and her siblings Ora Schmidt, Ann Jacobs, and Melvin Brademeyer.
A natural teacher, she was offered a job teaching in a rural school before she had finished high school. She instead attended Dickinson State University, graduating in 1951. She taught math at Bowman High School.
Upon marrying, she moved to Berkeley, CA, where she supported their family while Ed attended seminary. She worked at the Radiation Laboratory during the early years of the Cold War. Following her husband’s ordination, she served as a minister’s wife for thirty years, supporting each church and community. Together, they raised their six children while serving at Guerneville, CA; Mendon; Wheeling; Harrison, OH; Brimfield; and Donnellson, IA. She was a substitute teacher and she worked for the IRS. Following her husband’s death, she worked at Illinois State University.
She was committed to her church, from her childhood at Immanuel Evangelical Church in Taylor, ND, to her final membership at Community United Church of Christ, singing all along the way. She participated in regional and national meetings of the UCC.
Voting was important to her, so she encouraged everyone to register and to learn about the issues and to cast their votes.
She loved the North Dakota prairie, especially the bright blue sky of a clear day, and the richness of a full moon.
