Marion "Shorty" Johnson

Marion “Shorty” Johnson, 97, formerly of Minier, IL. passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at St. Clara’s Rehab and Senior Care in Lincoln, IL.

He was born February 7, 1927, to Rollo and Grace (Wilson) Johnson in Woodlawn Township, IL. He married Jewel Downen on October 16, 1953, she survives.

Also surviving are their daughter; Jamie (Randy) Furman, daughter-in-law; Sue Johnson; 5 grandchildren: Mellesa (Josh) Boudeman, Bethany (Kelly) Trummel, Laura Sue Johnson, Joseph (Shannon) Furman, Timothy (Brianna) Furman, eight great grandchildren with another one on the way, and his sister Mary Fortag.

He was preceded in death by his five brothers, four sisters, and his son Jimmy R. Johnson.

Shorty retired from Caterpillar in 1988. In retirement, he enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was an avid Cardinal Fan and loved listening to the games on the radio or watching them on T.V.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11a.m. at Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Minier. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Stanford, IL. Brady Cremeens will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Minier Christian Church, 405 E. Stringtown Rd. Minier, IL. 61759.
