Marjean Dirks

Marjean (Cuddles) Weir Dirks, 83 of Delavan passed away peacefully on October 26th at Amy’s Country Manor, Pekin.

She was born in Delavan on September 17, 1939 to Harold and Marion (Luick) Weir.

She married Alfred Dirks on January 22, 1955 in Pekin.

She is survived by her children. Richard (Kelly) Dirks of Brunswick, OH, Gregory(Vicki) Dirks of Delavan. Lisa Shay of Delavan, Kevin Dirks of Irving TX. Her grandkids, Brent (Jodi) Dirks of Lincolnshire, Brandon (Rebekah) Dirks of Birmingham, AL., Megan (Clint)McGraw of Tolono, Bryan Shay of Mahomet, Kristin (Kyle) Przykopanski of Mt. Pulaski. Her great grandkids, Jayci McGraw, Avery McGraw, Ella Shay, Gabe Dirks, Cole Dirks, Sienna Dirks, Ava Shay, Jael Dirks, Sophia Shay, Bennett Dirks, Caleb Dirks, and Raylan Przykopanski. One sister JoAnn Eeten of Delavan.

Marjean was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother-in-law Stanley Eeten.

Marjean had many different jobs in her life. But her longest job and favorite was working for Dr Roger Neumann as his receptionist.  But the one thing in life she loved more than anything was being with her family.  The first four grandkids will always have a very fond memory of her singing, “Row, row, row your boat” at bath time when they stayed the night.  They also remember living so close to her that they would go visit her often and play basketball in the driveway and eating her cookies that she had made just for them. 

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5th at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan. Pastor Charlie Graul will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.   Burial will be at the Prairie Rest Cemetery, Delavan. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
