Marjorie Tuley Obituary

Marjorie Tuley, 96, of Delavan, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Heritage Health in Bloomington. 

She was born June 9, 1925 in Delavan to John “Mike” and Dora Anthes Laffey.  She married Andrew Tuley on April 15, 1959 in Delavan. He passed away October 29, 1973. 

Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Michael (Dawn) Laffey, Eric Laffey, and Holly (Rick) Tindall, all of Bloomington.  Thomas Laffey, Hamilton, IN; Mary Laffey, Central City, CO.  Kathy (Larry) Kissel and Sharon Daughters, both of Hot Springs Village, AR.   

She was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Gerald, Daniel, and Joseph Laffey; and a nephew, Daniel Laffey

Marge began working at the Tazewell County National Bank shortly after she graduated from Delavan High School with the class of 1943.  She began as a bookkeeper and worked her way up to Senior Vice President of the bank and a member of the Board of Directors.  She continued working there until her retirement at the age of 65. 

She was baptized and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Delavan, where she served as president of its Alter and Rosary Society.  She received the distinguished Diocese of Marquette Legacy of Faith Catholic Service Award from the Peoria Catholic Diocese in 2001. For many years, she could be found tending the beautiful flowers in front of the church. 

Marge was a member of the Delavan Community Women’s Club and played in a ladies bridge group with life-long Delavan friends for more than 50 years.  

A funeral mass will be at 11:00 am Thursday, July 29, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Delavan.  Msgr. Gerald Ward will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 am Thursday at the Church.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Delavan. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements. 

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Delavan Historical Society.
