Mary Ann (Walker) Harrell, 95, of Mackinaw, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born on July 31, 1929 in rural Mackinaw Township to Charles L. and Bernice M. (Darnall) Walker. She married Donald A. Harrell on January 10, 1954, in Minier, and he survives. They were married for 71 years.
Also surviving are their two sons Kendall (Karen) Harrell and Bradley (Lynne) Harrell; four grandchildren, Patrick (Sheena) Harrell, Andrea Harrell, Brock (Shaina) Harrell, and Breanne Harrell; and a great-granddaughter, Nora Harrell. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Walker.
Mary Ann attended grade school at the Boston School House and graduated from Minier High School. She attended Illinois State University and worked at Funk Bros. Seed Company in Bloomington for 10 years.
Mary Ann was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was always working on a puzzle. She enjoyed baking and canning and was famous for her homemade applesauce. After Don’s retirement, they spent many winters in Marco Island, Florida. She was kind, patient, and the best listener. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service, followed by a light luncheon, will be held on April 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Minier Christian Church. A private burial will be held at Minier Cemetery. Haensel-Oswald Funeral Home in Mackinaw is handling the arrangements.
