Melinda Mount Obituary

Melinda Mount, 63, of Tremont, Illinois passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at her home.

She was born on November 8, 1960, in Ottawa, Illinois.  She is survived by her daughter, Samantha Petrea (Zach), and son, Samuel Snyder. She is also survived by her beloved granddaughters Bailey Davis and Bethany Petrea. Also surviving are two sisters, Susan White (Chuck) and Robin Cline (Kevin) and one brother, David Halpin (Patti), along with numerous extended family members, her childhood friend, Karla Mosher, and dear friend, Alisa Matheny.

Melinda was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Patricia Halpin, husbands Paul Snyder and William Mount, and her brother Thomas Halpin (Debra Jean).

Melinda was a warm and welcoming person who never knew a stranger.  Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many.  She had a remarkable ability to make others feel as if she had known them all their lives.  Melinda will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her many kindnesses and compassionate nature.

Through the years, when not working at the First National Bank of Tremont, Melinda could be found volunteering her many talents.  Whether leading an after school program at her church, volunteering at the elementary school, helping organize activities for her women’s group, scheduling drivers for the rescue squad, or cashiering at the Share Closet, she always gave generously of her time.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Tremont United Methodist Church, The Share Closet in Tremont, or TAPS animal shelter in honor of Melinda’s spirit and love for helping others.

A celebration of Melinda’s life will be at 11:00 am Saturday, January 6, 2024 at  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.  All who knew and loved Melinda are welcome.  Please join the family in remembering and honoring Melinda’s life and the impact she had on those around her.
