Michael John Wernsing, 76, passed away on May 22, 2023 in Peoria IL. He was born December 24, 1946 in Effingham Illinois to Harry and Agnes (Dettert) Wernsing.
Mike graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Effingham. He attended college in St Louis where he studied diesel mechanics. He dedicated decades of his career to mastering plastic productions & color. He retired in 2014 and lived out his dream of traveling the states in his RV with his partner Cindy & furry friend Buddy before settling at their dream home in Delavan IL in 2019. He was also a life long member of the Knights of Columbus
Mike was a lover of many things especially automotive, rebuilding multiple vehicles over the years. He loved music and a good dinner, with great friends along with his signature Jack Daniels Manhattan. Mike always appreciated spending time with family & friends & making everyone laugh.
Mike will be deeply missed by so many. He is survived by his partner, Cindy. His best furry friend, Buddy. His son Michael John Wernsing Jr (Kristi), son Rick Wernsing, daughter Amy Smith, son Aaron Komon (Kim), 12 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Agnes Wernsing, his son Jason Lee Wernsing, his brother Tom Wernsing along with his chosen brother Art Lewallen . There will be a private service for family held on July 22, 2023.
