Mildred "Millie" Bennet, 87, of Minier, passed away at 9:30- pm Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Unity Point Health Pekin Emergency Room. She was born August 9, 1932 to Roy and Marie Verling Schmidgall. She married James "Jim" Bennet on February 16, 1957 in Morton, and he passed away March 26, 2019. Surviving are two sons, Matthew (Karen) Bennet of Morton and Dave (Kristyne) Bennet of Willow Springs, MO; six grandchildren, Ryan (Tory) Bennet, Jennifer Bennet, Paige Bennet, Dylan Bennet, Megan Bennet, and Darcy Bennet; one sister, Lucille (Larry) Morr of Tremont. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister. Millie was a homemaker and enjoyed cake decorating. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Minier and Morton Whirl-a-Way Square Dancing Club. She also served as an election judge for Little Mackinaw Township for many years. Her funeral will be at 10:30 am Saturday, November 2, 2019 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Minier. Pastor Robert Sherman will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:15 am before the service at the church. A grave side service will be at 1:30 pm Saturday, November 2 at Gaines Cemetery in Minier. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Hopedale is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Johns United Church of Christ.
