Natalie Sue Dufrain, 95, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the Villas of Hollybrook in Morton, Illinois.
She was born August 23, 1928 in Carthage, Illinois to Roy Ansel and Mary Edith
(Carlton) Brooks. She married Delbert E. Dufrain in 1950, he preceded her in death in 2020. Also preceding her in death were her parents and siblings, Marilyn O’Neal, Robert and Roy Carlton Jr.
She was a graduate of Carthage High School and Western Illinois University. She began her teaching career in Clifton, Illinois and then completed it in the Aurora East School District.
She is survived by daughters, Kristie Andrews (Bernie Kressner) of Appleton, WI and Diana (Bill) Embry of Mackinaw, IL as well as grandchildren Starr (Mike) Pugh and Thomas (Jess) Embry, 8 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In retirement, Sue and Del spent 30 years in Stone Lake, WI, where she was active in the Stone Lake Wesleyan Church and Christian Women’s Club. She enjoyed golfing, cross-country, skiing, and her friends.
Cremation rights have been accorded and there will be a private family ceremony later in Kankakee, Illinois. The family would like to thank the staff at Hollybrook in Morton and Transitions Hospice for their loving care. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
