Norma Jean Hendricks, 84, of Hopedale, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 at Hopedale Nursing Home.
She was born August 16, 1939 in Hopedale to John P. and B. Marie Miller Litwiller. She married Richard “Dick” Dean Hendricks on June 3, 1956 in Hopedale, and he passed away February 20, 2011.
Surviving are her children, Curtis Wayne (Debra) Hendricks of Jefferson City, MO, Richard Alan (Peggy) Hendricks of Washington, Julie Anne (Jeff Johnston, Washington) Hendricks of Hopedale, Scott Dean Hendricks of Atlanta, and Steven Eric (Lorri) Hendricks of Omaha, NE; nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two brothers, Merwyn “Pete” (Janet) Litwiller and Wayne E. (Janice) Litwiller, both of Hopedale.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Norma was a homemaker and served as a postal clerk in Hopedale from 1973-1999.
She was a former member of the Hopedale Presbyterian Church, where she served as elder and deacon. She later attended the Hopedale Mennonite Church.
Norma served as librarian of the Hopedale Library for 15 years and served on its library board. She practiced a number of artistic hobbies, she enjoyed cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, her flowers, and was a great cook.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Hopedale Mennonite Church. Pastor Jessica Litwiller will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 am Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Mackinaw Township Cemetery at a later date. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
