Norma J. VanHoorn, 85, of Delavan, passed away, Sunday, May 2, 2021 at her home.
She was born July 21, 1935 in Pekin to Arthur and Mary Eidenmiller Connell. She married Edward G. VanHoorn on February 27, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Delavan, and he survives.
Also surviving are her children, Kathleen (Tom) Myers of Lake Villa, IL, Mary (Chris) Causey of Libertyville, IL, Scott VanHoorn of Park Rapids, MI, Jill (Mark) Behnke of Portage, WI, Gregory (Maureen) VanHoorn of Mahomet, IL, Vanessa (Greg) Olson of Palatine, IL; one son in law, Joe Naffziger of Canton, GA; 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; two brothers, John (Kathy) Connell of Reno, NV and Steve (Pat) Connell of Pekin; one sister, Janet Connell of Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Beth Naffziger.
Norma was a homemaker and worked as a teller at the First Farmers State Bank in Delavan from 1981-2004. She also worked part time at Ayer Public Library in Delavan.
She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Delavan and its Altar and Rosary Society, Delavan Women’s Club, and Delavan Garden Club.
Norma loved to make ceramics, quilting, and playing Bunco.
A private family funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Delavan. Msgr. Timothy Nolan will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Delavan. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Colette Eilers, Tammy Frew, and Sue Haney for their love and care given to Norma.
