Opal E. Gauger

Opal Ellen “Opie” Gauger, 96, of Tremont, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Mason City Area Nursing Home.

She was born May 27, 1924 in Pekin to J. Elmer and Marie Boehning Berchtold.  She married Wallace “Wally” Gauger on November 7, 1942 in Pekin. He passed away May 19, 2005.

Surviving are her children, The Rev. Dr. Randy (Mary) Gauger of Sycamore and Jill (Richard, deceased) Kohtz of Tremont; grandchildren, Cathy (Darren) Loeppky, Christy (Stirling) Duguid, Wally (Tristen) Kohtz, Adam (Stacie) Kohtz; great grandchildren, Caleb (Cassidy) Loeppky, Anna (Branden) Benskin, Emma, Nailah, Miyah Loeppky, Sophia, Caden, Chloe Duguid, Lily, Hank, Jet Kohtz, Jonah, Josie, June Kohtz,; great great grandchildren, Nora, Jaxon, Asher Loeppky.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Opie was a homemaker, Bookkeeper for Gauger Motors and a member of the Tremont Baptist Church where she served in various ministries.

Her funeral will be at 2:00 pm Friday, May 7, 2021 at Tremont Baptist Church.  Pastor Noah Lee will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Thursday, and one hour before the service, both at the church.  Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.  Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Tremont Baptist Church or Shriners Hospital for Children - Chicago.
