Patricia Crabtree

Patricia Elizabeth Crabtree, 83, of Tremont, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 peacefully in her sleep at her home.  

She was born on July 23, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO to Dale and Elizabeth Holcomb Neely.  She married Jon Crabtree on August 29, 1964 who had proceeded her in death.

Surviving are son, John (Michelle) and their children Emily and Tyler of Alexandria, VA; daughter Amy (Tom) Brennan and their children, Carolyn, Elizabeth, Catherine, and Tom III of Solebury, PA.  Also surviving are two brothers, Roger Neely of St. Joseph, MO and David Neely of Lawrence, KS.

Patricia graduated from William Jewell College in 1962 with a degree in Sociology.  She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority, the Pi Gamma Mu National Society, and was a member of the Union Board Committee.  

Patricia had many interests that included spending time with her family and all her grandchildren.  She was an avid fan of nature and enjoyed being outside working in her yard, taking walks, or riding her bicycle.  She loved animals and would routinely volunteer to watch neighbor’s dogs or walk them on a regular basis.  She enjoyed reading books, doing crossword puzzles, and reading the daily newspaper.  She was a huge fan of classical music.  She was a fan of the Purdue Boilermakers, Green Bay Packers, and St Louis Cardinals.  She enjoyed volunteering her time to help out the Tremont Community including the Tremont Turkey Festival, helping to decorate the downtown area for Christmas, among other community events.  

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Peoria, Illinois.

She will be missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 5:30 PM followed by a memorial service at 5:30 P.M. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Davis Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont.  

In lieu of flowers, we ask for memorials to be made to the Purdue Institute for Cancer Research in support of their efforts to find new treatments for all types of cancers.  Patricia’s husband Jon passed from kidney cancer in 2013 and her grandson Tyler is a leukemia survivor.  Donations can be made online at https://www.purdue.edu/cancer-research/index.php.
