Obituary

Paulette D. McCullum Horton, age 78, of Tremont, Illinois passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Royal Oaks Care Center Kewanee, IL.


Paulette was born on December 10, 1941, in Streator, IL, to Paul R. and Carrie V. (Reed) McCullum. she married Fred Horton on April 2, 1966, in Tremont IL.


Surviving her are - Fred; her sons, Todd (Rose) Horton of Peyia Cyprus; Brad (Julie) Horton of Normal, Illinois; Six grandchildren - Josiah, Abigail, Sarah, Rachel of Peyia, Cyprus Ashleigh and Alexis of Normal, Illinois; . Also surviving are two sisters, Carolyn (Vernon) Whittemore of Chillicothe, IL, and Cynthia (Charles) Huggins of East Peoria, IL.


She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Roger (Shirley) McCullum and Ronald McCullum and one sister Sandra McCullum.


Paulette was an active member of the Tremont United Methodist Church.  She served as volunteer for Vacation Bible School. Paulette was a homemaker and devoted her life to raising and caring for her two sons.   

 

Paulette loved the music of Elvis, Andrews sisters, Lawrence Welk, Neil Diamond, Andy Williams, Sammy Davis Jr. Dean Martin and more.  She loved dancing and the big band era.  

 

Paulette had a deep faith in her understanding of Jesus and taught her children Jesus loves me and this little light of mine as the first two songs they learned.

 

 "Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!" - Luke 24:5-6


 

Paulette now understands these verses and would encourage us to seek her in her risen state and hold tight to the good memories that were created. May her memory be a blessing.  

 

Services are pending.  Interment will be accorded at River View Cemetery in Streator, Illinois. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.
