Richard Luick

Richard F. Luick, 92, of Tremont, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Timbercreek Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pekin.

He was born March 11, 1931, a son of Henry and Elizabeth Schaefer Luick, in Hopedale Township.

He married D. Joanne Eicher June 6, 1948 in Davenport, IA. She died August 5, 2014 in Tremont.

Surviving are two sons, John E. Luick of Hopedale, and Rick (Barb) Luick of Tremont; three grandchildren, Rhonda Street of Blair, NE, Kim (Dennis) Herskind of Bellevue, NE, Johnetta (Tim) Connolly of Princeville; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is one niece, Nancy Westermann of Morton, IL.

He was preceded in death by one brother, John Luick; three sisters, Mildred Schurter, Eleanor Fawer, and Alice Hazelman; one daughter-in-law, Terri Luick; and one grandson, Sean Flaugher.

He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 37 years, retiring from Inventory Control on April 1, 1985. After he retired from Caterpillar, he opened Luick Small Engine Repair in Tremont.

He was a member of Tremont Sportsman Club, was active with the Tremont Turkey Festival, and was a well-known handyman, helping many in the community.

He was an active member of Tremont Baptist Church, where his funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday, April 22, 2023. Reverend Noah Lee will officiate. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.
