Richard Scherer Obituary

Richard D. “Dick” Scherer, 81, formerly of Green Valley and Tremont, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021 at his home in Pekin.

He was born December 31, 1939 in Peoria to Roy L. and Elizabeth Davis Scherer. He married Janice M. Newlun on October 8, 1961 in Pekin and she passed away July 21, 2018.

Surviving are one son, Dr. Darrin (Tara) Scherer of Goodyear, AZ; one daughter, Lori (Tim) Kincaid of Green Valley; five grandchildren, Courtney and Ashley Kincaid, Brennan, Braeden and Broedy Scherer; one sister, Carol (Gerald) Clark of Green Valley.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He served in the United States Marine Corps and worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin.

Cremation has been accorded. A graveside service will be at 10:30 am Friday, October 8, 2021 at Antioch Cemetery in Tremont. There will be no visitation. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
